Silently Install CutePDF Writer and Ghostscript

I was quite recently looking to find a way to install CutePDF Writer silently (like most corporate setups) as to keep user interaction to a minimum. Getting CutePDF Writer fully installed consists of intsalling both the writer itself, as well as the GPL Ghostscript. Here’s the fix:

  1. Download the Ghostscript converter.
  2. Rename converter.exe to
  3. Extract the contents of the zip file.
  4. Run converter\Setup.exe.

CutePDF Writer

  1. Download the CutePDF Writer installer.
  2. Run CuteWriter.exe /verysilent. Using the /silent switch also works, but shows the status of the unattended installation.

Pretty simple. I opted to combine the two into a batch file:

cutewriter.exe /verysilent
rd "%ALLUSERSPROFILE%\Start Menu\Programs\CutePDF" /S /Q

Do you know of a switch to deselect “Set my home page to”, Make Ask my browser default search provider”, and “I accept the terms of the End User License Agreement and Privacy Policy and want to install Ask Toolbar”?

Gah, I hate it when these sorts of things get bundled in. I can’t say I’ve looked at it in awhile, and don’t know of any switches offhand. What I would do is look for an older version that doesn’t include the bloat. I doubt the actual software has changed much at all.

The switch to not install the ask toolbar during installation is /no3d

Thanks for this. Used it, with a slight modification, to deploy CutePDF with PDQ Deploy.

For someone that have interesting, I have used the following command:
    /silent /norestart /SP- /no3d
(It shows only the progress bar).

These switches should work for silent install, no Ask toolbar and no mesage boxes at all
